My Message for the Mother’s Day

Author: Renato De La Rosa, MD

The next generation will pay a big prize for the neglected children we did not care about.

Today, May 14, 2023, there were 4 mass shootings that happened in the US: one in Louisiana, Indiana, Alabama and one in Pennsylvania. [GVA, Gun Violence Archive]

The average mass shootings in the US is now 2 a day:  610, 690, 647 mass shootings in the years 2020, 2021 and 2022 respectively, and we are getting “numb” about it.

“The next generation will pay a big prize for the neglected children we did not care about. Neglecting children is neglecting the next generation.  The problems of the next generation, whether it is health, education, economy, or good citizenship, rely on the emotional stability of today’s society.”

The blazing guns of the mass shooters echo the sentiments of the neglected children. We miss the real mothers. We miss the real dads. It is all about the emotional stability of the nation.

Everybody should ask themselves, “Am I emotionally stable?

Happy Mother’s Day.
