Supplements that Might Help in Omicron Infection

An update to the Omicron variant and subvariants.

For The Treatment of Omicron/Covid-19 Infection:
Do your research and reading.
Consult your Primary Care Physician.

In our medical office some of our patients use the following:

ORAL MOUTHWASH:
Gargle with either 1% Povidone-iodine or Listerine. May use either Crest, Scope or Act (those with Cetylpyridinium). They have done 30 sec gurgling, 2-3x a day in clinical studies.

NASAL WASH:
0.5, 1 and 5% Povidone-iodine Nasal cleansing using Q-tips –
(Please avoid iodine if you have iodine allergy. Apply to skin first to test for allergy.) May apply inside each nostril in circular motion using Q-tips. Some do it 2-4x a day depending on the exposures.

OR

CofixRx Nasal Spray:
Adult patients have tried 1 spray
to each nostril, not more than
3x in a day.

Vitamin D 4,000 IU capsule
Patients have taken once daily.

Vitamin C 1000 mg tablet
Patients have taken 2x a day

Quercetin 250 mg capsule
Patients have taken 2x a day

Zinc 50 mg tablet (elemental zinc)
Patients have taken 2x a day
(May cause constipation.)

Melatonin 5 mg tablet
Patients have taken 2 tablets
nightly at bedtime.

ISOLATE:
Consult the updated CDC Guidelines:
5 days isolation followed by
5 days of strict masking.

ANTI-FEVER AND FOR MUSCLE
ACHES:
Acetaminophen or low dose Naproxen OTC help in most patients.

ANTITUSSIVE (ANTI-COUGH):
Taken only when severe

BE MOBILE:
Move as tolerated.

SUN EXPOSURE:
Regular daily sun exposure helps.(10 to 30 minutes, between 6:00 am to 8:30 am.)

SLEEP:
Sleeping 7-8 hours a night helps.

NUTRITION:
Avoid junk food. Eat nutritious food.
Let your food be thy medicine.

Notes:

NASAL WASH:
0.5, 1 and 5% Povidone-iodine had been recommended in the past.

1% is 1 part of 10% Povidone Iodine + 9 parts of tap water.

5% is 1 part of 10% Povidone Iodine + 1 part tap water.

contains carrageenan and
Vitamin D3, manufacturer
claims that it creates an
additional protective anti-
pathogenic barrier around the
nasopharynx, inactivating germs
or pathogens and providing a
layer of protection from
infection and transmission.

Saline Gargle (sodium chloride) and steam inhalation did not work in one study.

REMEMBER, WHEN IT COMES TO THE VIRAL ENTRY, IT IS ALL ABOUT THE NOSE AND THROAT! …and Omicron loves the nose (100x) and throat/bronchus (70x than Delta variant).

SUN EXPOSURE:
Have regular sun exposure between 6 am to 8:30 am. Aside from Vitamin D, the sun has NIR (Near InfraRed) wavelengths that increases level of intracellular melatonin and protects the mitochondria, the energy source of the cells. It boosts your immune system.

SLEEP:
Sleep 7-8 hours a night. If you can not sleep, you are not healthy.
Some studies say that the highest secretions of melatonin and GH are between the hours of 10:00 pm to 2:00 am, others say that the peak is between 2:00 am to 4:00 am.
Sleeping rejuvenates health and increases your immune system.

NUTRITION:
Avoid junk food which are inflammatory. Eat nutritious food.
