Humans are Herd Animals

Author: Renato De La Rosa, MD

The normal behavior of the tribe often overpowers the desired behavior of the individual.
Here is my recent text I sent to my three sons, Derrick, Darrel, and Daniel.

I came across this topic in my reading yesterday that I like to share with you.

“Humans are herd animals. The normal behavior of the tribe often overpowers the desired behavior of the individual. The reward of being accepted is often greater than the reward of winning an argument, looking smart, or finding the truth. Most days, we would rather be wrong with the crowd than be right by ourselves.” – James Clear, author, Atomic Habits

Sometimes we are faced with the problem of imitating bad behavior with bad consequences just to be part of the tribe or be accepted to a group of friends.

Be smart. Manage your habits and your brain well. You can transform yourself and your habits into good use or purpose.

If somebody offers you drugs or alcohol, you know the consequences of them. It’s only for dopamine surge and short feelings of pleasure or reward. You body and brain do not need them. Always ask yourself, is the habit useful or damaging? Pleasure is not long lasting, happiness is.

It is WC vs RO!

“Wrong in the Crowd”
