There was a proverb: “He who worries suffers twice.”
This is also good… that I share with my patients.
“If worries heal, then worry.”
“As your physician, let me do the worrying for you. Postpone the worrying until we get the final results. Good night sleeps are too precious to waste for something that had not happened yet. I’ll tell you when to worry… not now.”
True Story:
My 50 year old female patient presented with erythema nodosum on both shins. I requested for Chest X-rays (to rule out PTB and sarcoidosis).
Unfortunately, the CXR was not done immediately and the result did not come out until the 4th day. The result was negative. She did not sleep for 3 nights, worrying. She had no control of the results on those 3 nights.
“He who worries suffers 3 nights.”
